Marketing & Business Development Manager

Background:

At Buddy we’re a small, but mighty team of designers producing fantastic creative work for adventurous brands…but we are guilty of ‘hiding our light under a bushel’, as the saying goes, and never seeming to find enough time to promote our fabulousness, which is where you come in!

We need a confident, experienced and wildly enthusiastic marketing & business development person to help us build our reputation, spread the good word and energetically help us find new business.

Capable of generating ideas; briefing us to produce the assets, campaigns and thought-pieces you need to evangelise on our behalf so must be dynamic, confident, organised and steeped in the world of design.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic, hungry, design and brand literate marketing & business development professional to lead our commercial endeavours.

 

Responsibilities:

Create and implement all marketing and communications activities for the Agency, ensuring we have a clear plan to deliver a consistent voice in the world of design and brand marketing covering PR, relevant social (LinkedIn, Insta etc), our own website and trade press (and any other ideas you have to amplify our brand!)

Develop thought pieces and case studies that we can share with prospective and existing clients

Represent! Understand our brand positioning, body of work and difference, so that you can confidently present our credentials to prospective clients in a variety of settings from networking events to trade shows, 1:1 and marketing industry events.

Write proposals and develop cost estimates to help win new projects

Deal with inbound enquiries to screen them for suitability

Develop and Manage our CRM with previous and current clients presenting them with relevant news and new work to remain engaged with the business

Support the development of existing client relationships by leveraging all of the above to identify and win new contacts and new business from within these businesses

Proactively approach prospects using tools and platforms such as: LinkedIn, email, direct mail, phone calls, events and trade shows etc.

Research industry and trade press, LinkedIn, competitors’ client lists and proactively use sales and insights platforms to spot and predict potential scale-up and re-branding opportunities.

Conduct customer research to ensure we know what customers think of us and can produce the testimonials and case studies which elevate our work.

Prepare monthly marketing reports and brief the Directors on the marketing strategy – activity, progress, results and future planning.

You will be:
An experienced marketer, ideally with 3+ years working in a creative agency setting (Ideally within FMCG, B2C & D2C sectors)
A good networker with a proven track record of building great relationships and meaningful connections with prospects, clients and strategic partners.
Driven, organised and diligent
Able to communicate superbly in both the spoken and written word
Comfortable working in a fast-moving and creative environment – shrinking violets need not apply!
Preferably a dog lover!

Competitive Salary
35 hrs per week (full-time)
Based at our Exeter studio
Employer pension contributions
20 days holiday per year, plus Bank Holidays & Christmas shutdown
